Despite the injury, Topley displayed remarkable determination by returning to the field to complete his allotted overs and ultimately recorded figures of 9.5-0-88-3.

Brydon Carse, the incoming replacement, brings with him a wealth of experience, having already represented England in 12 One Day Internationals (ODIs). He has made his mark as a promising bowler, amassing 14 wickets, including a memorable five-wicket haul against Pakistan in Birmingham back in July 2021. Carse’s record in List A cricket also stands out, with 24 wickets taken in 21 games at an average of 32.20.

England’s versatile batter, Joe Root, lauded Carse’s abilities, likening him to the renowned all-rounder Ben Stokes and former seamer Liam Plunkett. Root went on to highlight Carse’s potential in the batting department, suggesting that he may have even more to offer with the bat, similar to the former seamer Liam Plunkett.
